About UsA home for artists
For over 40 years, we have been translating artistic visions into timeless bronze sculptures.
Mastery in the craft of bronze casting, rooted in the lost-wax technique.
At Van Geert Art Foundry, we preserve an age-old craft while simultaneously building its future. Bronze casting is an art form that can only truly be understood in the workshop: by observing, feeling, trying, and trying again. We strongly believe in the value of this artisanal knowledge — knowledge not gained from books, but learned by working alongside a master craftsman. That's why we fully commit to knowledge transfer, allowing young creators, art students, and emerging artists to observe, participate, and learn. Only in this way can this unique profession continue to thrive.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make this craft future-proof: by respecting tradition, by judiciously applying modern techniques, and by finding the right balance between innovation and craftsmanship. A bronze sculpture should be recognized as handmade. It must continue to radiate that it was created by human hands — with passion, with care, with character.
We aim to be an artisanal home for artists: a place where they feel welcome, where they can experiment, where they receive technical support, and where their vision is translated into a strong and durable bronze artwork through close consultation. Whether they are young talents, amateur artists, or experienced professionals: we contribute to creating sculptures that withstand the test of time and inspire future generations.
That's why we dedicate significant attention to knowledge transfer for young craftspeople, emerging creators, and art students. With our current residency pilot project, we are taking the first steps towards a permanent learning and working environment where barriers disappear, and curiosity and experimentation are central. In the future, we aim to expand this into a structured program, giving young artists the opportunity to further explore the material and the craft, and to push boundaries.
Our Values
At Van Geert Art Foundry, we proudly contribute to artists' work every day. We do this based on three pillars that define our way of working and connect us as a team. They form the foundation of how we collaborate, how we interact with artists, and how we continuously refine our craft.
-
Customer Focus
Our artists and partners can count on a bronze foundry that listens, thinks proactively, and looks ahead.
We aim to understand what an artist truly needs, even before they ask. Through close contact, clear agreements, and a service-oriented approach, we ensure that every project can develop with confidence.
We go that extra mile: drive, efficiency, and decisiveness are self-evident for us. We fully commit to every request and actively seek solutions, even when challenges arise. This is how we build lasting relationships where quality and reliability are paramount.
-

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
Casting is teamwork. In our bronze foundry, we bring together experience, craftsmanship, and new insights.
We share knowledge spontaneously, help each other progress, and communicate openly — in the workshop, between departments, and with our artists. Respect, collegiality, and a flexible attitude enable us to work as one team towards the same goal: delivering the best result.
Passion plays a significant role in this: we commit ourselves daily, tackle challenges with conviction, and do not give up in the face of setbacks. This mentality strengthens the entire team and elevates our work to a higher level.

Continuous Improvement
Our craft never stands still — and neither do we.
Every day, we seek ways to work more efficiently, refine our processes, and enhance our quality.
We test new techniques, continuously learn, improve wherever possible, and collaborate creatively on challenging projects.
This pursuit of improvement stems from our deep passion for the craft: the determination to persevere, to find solutions, and to do better tomorrow than today. This drive is evident in every project and every detail that leaves our workshop.
"We aim to be an artistic home for artists, where they feel welcome to experiment and learn"
— Sara Louwagie, owner and managing director
Meet Sara
Sara Louwagie has been the owner and managing director of Van Geert Art Foundry since 2022. With a background in consumer marketing and a long-standing passion for art and craftsmanship, she made a deliberate transition to the world of making — driven by the desire to collaborate more closely with artists and to safeguard a craft rooted in human knowledge and manual skill.
For Sara, Van Geert Art Foundry must primarily remain a workshop — not a factory. A place where artists feel welcome, where ideas can grow through collaboration, and where craftsmanship is passed on to future generations through experience, curiosity, and shared knowledge.
In April 2023, Sara and Van Geert Art Foundry were featured in Voka Magazine (East Flanders) in an extensive portrait about her journey, the evolution of the foundry, and her vision for the future.
